My Favourite Holiday

Yay! My favourite holiday is only weeks away! I LOVE Christmas!

I’ve already started decorating our home and while I would love to decorate EVERY room in the house, I promised DH I would stick to the living room and the dining room - although he hasn’t said anything about the baubles hanging from the curtain rods in the kitchen  and the Santa dish in the bathroom that is holding the soa…or maybe he just hasn’t noticed! lol

We all get so busy going about our lives throughout the year but when the silly season comes and I receive Christmas cards from pals I haven’t seen in a while, it makes me happy that they thought of me.

So, next weekend we’re going to decorate our tree. We have an  ongoing tradition where we put on some Christmas music, wear our Santa hats and sing and dance while we decorate. And it’s DH’s job to place the star at the top of the tree. Last year DS15 tried to put the star on and the girls yelled “That’s Dad’s job!!!” Traditions stick in our household! lol

I’d love for you to share some of your family traditions :)

ah, yes, christmas. we don’t really celebrate christmas in my family, since we pay more attention to chinese traditions. but we do stay around to talk and communicate during christmas, though. after all, it’s a holiday and we sort of just took a break and lie around :D

Awe, I feel kinda sad now - you decorating sounds like so much fun. Our shipment will not arrive in time for Christmas and i am not sure what decorations can be found in a muslim country. I LOVE decorating the house and now that Lilli is 4, she is really into it too. I guess we will have to try and make some.

@ Shar, making Christmas decorations is fun! Last year we made paper chains out of left over wrapping paper.

I don’t know what I’ll do as far as decorations go or putting up our tree… too much of a “long story” here to go into it.

But your tradition sounds lovely! :-D

We always have a traditional Italian fish dinner, called the Feast of the 7 Fishes, on Christmas Eve.

We have lots more traditions, like letting the girls open one gift on Christmas Eve, having mangers in our home with Baby Jesus covered up until Christmas morning and leaving out milk & cookies for Santa. Oops don’t forget carrots for the reindeer!

@ Connie, of course! We leave cookies and carrots out too. But instead of milk, we leave a bottle of beer! LOL
