Fatism - (n) - 1. Discrimination or prejudice based on a person’s weight.
Fatist (n & adj) - 1. A a person with a prejudiced belief that one persons weight is superior to others. 2. based on intolerance to a person’s weight.

When I hear stories of overweight people being judged on the weight they look, this really makes me mad. And it’s not just because I am overweight myself.

There has been recent studies that show that employers are less likely to hire an overweight person due to them believing that overweight people are lazy and will not do the job satisfactorily. This is a whole load of garbage! Just because a person is overweight does not mean they are lazy. We have a friend who is overweight. He works shift work, working sometimes 12 day rosters. He also runs his own security business, doing security work for parties and functions. And he is also a volunteer for the State Emergency Service.

It makes me sad that we even need a word like “fatism” in a world that is already screwed up because of discrimination against race, religion, etc. We should all be referred to as human beings and nothing else.

Feeling under the weather

I had a feeling that I might have been coming down with a cold yesterday when I couldn’t stop sneezing and sniffling. This morning I woke up with a stuffy head and runny nose. I don’t usually get sick but this winter I think I’ve caught more bugs than I ever have….and the changes in the weather doesn’t help either, one day it’s stinking hot and the next week it could be pouring down raining!

Oh well, I’m going to make myself a cup of lemon tea and curl up on the lounge. It’s a good thing that DH cooks most nights (he’s a cook by trade, why do you think I married him?! LOL) so I won’t feel guilty having a little snooze.

Take A Break #2

Building A Healthy Body, One Day At A Time -  Everybody wants a healthy body, right? This blog offers great posts about eating healthy, working out, nutrition and fitness advice. I know I need this sort of info!

Eternal Flux -  You’ll find a wide variety of categories at Eternal Flux, authored by Leigh. One that caught my eye was Wicca. I know nothing about Wicca but now I know where I can go to learn about it :) Leigh has also started a new feature called “Check it Out”, a similar idea to my “Tina’s Take A Break”. Funnily enough, we started our respective features almost simultaneously! Great minds think alike! :)

Brain Foggles -  My blogging pal Connie is the author of this little gem :) Even though life has thrown many obstacles her way, she continues to be strong and an inspiration to others. While being disABLED herself, she is an advocate to other people with disABILITIES, doing all she can to make sure that people are judged for who they are and not for what they cannot do. For this, I take my hat off to her :)

Sweet Resistance - Authored by Shirley, this blog is a valuable resource for those needing information about Type 2 Diabetes. Although it’s fairly new, this blog has informative categories such as diabetic supplies, alternative health and education. A must-read for Type 2 Diabetics and their support network.

Diary of A Track Bunny -  I know NOTHING about Nascar but as I’ve learned lately, there is always SOMEONE writing about every possible topic. So I now know that if I want to read about Nascar, I head to Diary of a Track Bunny who not only posts about Nascar, but also posts about music, television, gossip, love and life. Another great read!

B Money Savvy - Authored byLori, B Money Savvy will “help you be resourceful with your online money making, managing your credit, and making sure you get the best deal for your dollar”. Filled with helpful information in a number of categories such as “blogging tips”, “improving rankings” and “work at home”, this blog is surely a valuable resource if you want to make money online.

Blogging With Cents - is also authored by Lori :) This blog has posts about  life, people, news, reviews, money, tips & freebies. She covers a whole heap of topics including parenting, shopping tips and home tips. She brags that she can change her own tires, cook from scratch and kick your _____ if you tick her off! :-P This is one of my daily must-read blogs!

Alycat’s Claws - Alycat26 is  a “27 year old stay at home mom, finding different ways to work at home, lose weight, gain confidence, write and figure out who I am besides “mom”. Her blog covers a wide variety of topics and provides an interesting read…definitely one to add to your reader.

I Know Everything, Just Ask My Hubby - authored by valmg, this blog is about her life, family, parenting, her home, the internet, health, computers, blogging, reviews, work and money. I {heart} her blog tag: “Pretty much anything I want. Hey, it’s cheaper than therapy!”

If you’ve been a regular reader, you’ll have noticed that I’m slowly changing my little blog empire :) This blog in particular is changing in the topics that I write about. So I thought I would give a run-down on my blogs and if you feel that this one isn’t your cup of tea anymore, please check out my other sites :)

The Original Mx5, now is basically a blog about anything and everything and less family-oriented.

Mummified Times Five is my family-oriented blog where I post regularly about my DH, my babes and our family life in general.

This blog, Not Just Mama is my personal blog focussing on ME! Putting aside my “wife and mama” title for a little while to be just me!

Hopefully this will help you decide which blog (if not all!) you wish to continue reading.

Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts about these changes :)

Take A Break

In lieu of a blogroll on this blog, I thought I would try something different and do link posts instead. So, since today is Sunday, this will be a Sunday occurance where I will post a “mini review” about interesting blogs I have found through the week giving you an opportunity to “take a break” and have a bit of a read, maybe even adding these blogs to your daily read :) Check back soon for the first instalment of Tina’s Take A Break!

Mini Update

Filed Under admin stuff | 2 Comments

I’ve spent the better half of today fixing up the template and adding all my “bling” to my sidebars. I think I’ve added everything that was there previously. My only problem now is that I need to rewrite the posts that I did for “Tina’s Take A Break” so please be patient with me and I’ll get them re-added as soon as I can :)

Where’s my blog??!!

Filed Under admin stuff | Leave a Comment

I logged in this morning to update my blog, only to find some error and I wasn’t able to view the blog or get into the cpanel!

After spending some time emailing back  and forth with tech support, I needed to reinstall Wordpress but in the meantime, I lost my customisations and my posts!

So PLEASE bear with me while I get this blog back in order. What a pain in the asphalt!

Hello world!

Welcome to notjustmama.net!

I’m Tina, also known as mummifiedx5. You may recognise me from such blogs as The Original Mx5 and Mummified Times Five

I’m a wife to 1 husband and a stay at home mama to 5 babes. We live in NSW Australia.

While I LOVE my husband and my babies, I find that sometimes I forget who ‘I’ am! So this blog is my little space where I can  put aside the ‘wife’ title and the ‘mama’ title and just be Tina.

Join me in my journey to rediscovering myself :)
