December 12 always brings a wave of mixed emotions for me. It has been 14 years today since my mum passed away. She was drink-driving and she crashed the car that she and my dad were driving in. My dad suffered serious injuries. My mum died on impact.

I miss her. She made my life hell and to this day, things she had said and done affects how my family deal with each other. My three youngest children never knew my mother. My two older children were toddlers when she died. I am sad that they don’t know her. But glad that she will not damage their childhood as much as she damaged mine.

Please don’t judge me for writing this. Until you have walked in my shoes, you’ll never know how evil she was. She is my mother, and I love my mother. I just didn’t love the person she became when she drank.

It is after midnight and I’m not tired at all. It is quite unusual for me because I’m practically ready to hit the pillow soon after the babes go to bed. DH is away at camp with DD11 so I thought I’d do a little experiment.

As some of you know, I do paid blogging on a couple of my blogs and I feel as though sometimes I’m a little disadvantaged because I live in Australia. A lot of the opportunities are released during US daytime (which means I’m sleeping!) So I’m staying up later tonight to see what may be available to me in the way of opps.

But if it’s nothing different, then I will stand corrected!

11. Do you make homemade gifts for friends and family? I have given homemade gifts.

12. What was the worst Christmas present you ever received? a gift set of bath products that smelt so terrible, it literally made me sick.

13. What was your favorite Christmas present ever? A gorgeous fluffy, soft dressing gown with my name embroidered on it.

14. On the average how many presents do you buy for each of your kids? The number can vary because I have a budget of $100 each for them so it depends on what they have been asking for.

Shopaholic

I just finished reading “The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic” by Sophie Kinsella and am currently reading “Shopaholic Takes Manhattan”.

While I enjoy the humour and “Bridget Jones’ Diary” style of writing, I’m really not THAT much of a shopaholic so when the author is describing clothes or shoes of certain brands and stores, that goes STRAIGHT over my head!
