Was it just naivety?

I don’t know if I was just naive when I was a teenager or what but I don’t remember there being so much in the media about teenagers and drugs back then. I should mention that I’m talking 20ish years ago. Was I just not exposed to that sort of scene because I hung around “good” kids? It probably was happening all around me but I never took any notice. I notice now though because it’s in the media so much and it seems that almost every day there’s some celebrity or high profile person checking into one of many drug rehabs.
