Grown-up bathroom

I want my own bathroom! *stamping my feet*

I’m sick of going into the bathroom after the kids (or DH) have been in there and the floor is saturated or the toilet roll is empty or the hand towel isn’t "the way I put it".

I’d make my bathroom a kid and husband-free zone. I’d have pretty candles and it would be pink, all pink!

I was looking at bathroom makeover websites and I saw a lot of the "after" photos featured Danze faucets. Very classy!

It would be so nice to be able to walk into my bathroom and find everything exactly where I left, no tripping over bath toys and no stinky towels left on the floor.

Can I sleep first?

I think I might be suffering from "Mondayitis". I had a shocking sleep (it was even sleep because I don’t think I got much) and I’ve got so much to do today but all I feel like doing is grabbing a pillow and a blanket and going for a sleep on the lounge. (DH and the baby are still sleeping in my bed).

Just thinking about what I need to get done today is making me exhausted! Someone please find my fairy godmother and tell her to bring me some energy, and strength (maybe some prohormones or vitamins or something.

On second thoughts, let me have that snooze on the lounge and then I’ll get stuck into what I need to do.

All around me

It’s Friday night and it’s not often on a Friday night that I can sit on the lounge and blog to my heart’s content while the rest of the family is at home.

Friday night in this house is "boys’ night" which means DH has a few friends over to play cards or darts or to just have a few beers and a chat. They usually sit in the dining room (where the dart board is currently hanging) so I usually shut the door between the dining room and living room so firstly, they don’t sound so loud (!) and secondly, I try to keep the kids from running in and out of the dining room because I’d rather them not hear the "colourful language" that sometimes can spill out of the boys’ mouths!

So, usually I’m folding laundry or finding something else that needs to be done or tending to the baby or refereeing the feral teenagers while they try to kill each other!

But tonight? The boys are quiet (hmm, not sure if that’s good or not!), the baby is toddling around, playing with her toys next to me, one of the teenagers is sleeping at a friends’ house and the rest of the kidlets are in their bedrooms, either playing on the PS2 or on the computer.

And here I was thinking that I was going to have to contact some laughlin hotels (I think that’s far enough away to have peace!) so I can book some quiet! I wonder how much quiet costs these days.

Long enough for nails to dry

You know, I can’t even remember the last time I painted my finger and toe nails. I remember doing it and ending up having to take it all off because I ended up having to do something or tend to one of the kids or whatever and it got all smudged.

It would be so nice to have enough time to be able to sit still and let the nail polish dry! Ah, the simple things in life make a difference sometimes…lol

Are you a talker or a listener? Is it ever possible to really be both?

I think it depends who my company is. DH thinks that when I’m with him, I’m a talker and I don’t let him have a word in edgewise…lol

So, yes, I think it’s possible to be both because I can be.

Do you think God has a sense of humor?

He MUST have a sense of humour because after the last few weeks, I’ve felt like He’s been bored and was looking for someone to hassle and I must have been in His line of sight.

Do you believe in love at first sight? Have you ever experienced it?

I do believe in love at first sight. That’s exactly what happened with DH :) And if you ask him, he’ll tell you the same thing.

Note to self - If you’re planning on staying up into the wee hours of the morning, be sure to have a DVD sitting ready near the DVD player so you can at least have something decent to watch instead of infomercials about steak knives, the latest break through in weightloss and life insurance.

You’d think that would have put me to sleep but no! I was seriously thinking about ringing up and ordering those darn steak knives!

Where’s my corner?

I’ve mentioned plenty of times on one of my other blogs about how modestly-sized our house is and it’s difficult with so many of us living under this roof, to find your own little corner to hide out in.

But while our house is small, our back yard is large so I’ve been thinking about asking DH to build me my own little "sanctuary" out there. Maybe a yurt? Or even just a sheltered garden chair where I can get away from the noise and mayhem in the house.

I think this is why I have this blog. Because it’s MINE. I don’t have to share it with my DH and I don’t have to share it with my children. I can rant and rave. I can talk about me without feeling guilty.

If your personality had to be summed up as a sandwich, what kind of sandwich would you be?

I’d be a vegemite sandwich. I’m an acquired taste…lol

If you knew that someone was dying, but they didn’t know, would you tell them the truth or deceive them about it?

Yes. I wouldn’t want to be deceived. I’d tell them so they could prepare and make the most of the time they have left.

Do you dress the same when you are depressed as you do when you are very happy?

More or less. If I’m feeling really depressed and I’m not going anywhere, I stay in my pj’s. If I want to pick myself up, I get dressed up and put on some makeup. That usually makes me feel better.
